MESSAGES OF PEACE FROM THE JASENOVAC MEMORIAL SITE EDUCATION CENTRE

As part of the work of the Jasenovac Memorial Site Education Centre, in the spring of 2008 a project was launched to send out a message of peace from Jasenovac. Groups of young people who attended the educational programme of the Education Centre wrote messages of peace based on what they had learned and experiences and either left them behind for the next group to read, or sent them to institutions or individuals, according to their own choice. Copies of all these messages are on display in the Jasenovac Memorial Site Education Centre.

At the commemoration service held on 20 April 2004 to honour the dead and survivors of Jasenovac Ustasha Concentration Camp, on the anniversary of the breakout by the very last prisoners from Camp III (Brickworks) and the Tannery, for the first time a Peace Declaration was issued from Jasenovac to the whole world.
